The Department commends the service coordinators and community members supporting individuals and families impacted since the Los Angeles wildfires began in early January 2025. We’ve seen regional center staff, community partners, and first responders make a world of difference in the most challenging circumstances.
During a recent resource fair hosted by San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center, we met Elsy Cabral, grandmother to two girls with autism. Her family’s story echoes the grief our community is facing. Evacuated during the Eaton Wildfire, the impact on their family has been overwhelming. The family has the full support of Service Coordinator Felicia Romero, who was working with the family well before this crisis. Watch Elsy’s video.
During and after emergencies, service coordinators help individuals and families served by regional centers find immediate support, connect to essential resources, and make sure critical needs are met as they navigate new challenges. Thank you, Felicia, and every service coordinator and first responder, supporting people impacted by these terrible events!
